Why Do Some Companies Offer Free Or Nearly Free Alarm Systems?

Alarm Systems

The answer is quite simple. Companies figure on average to advertise to attract new customers costs roughly between $400.00 to $750.00 per customer. Then they have to pay a qualified sales person to try and sell the product or service and pay for skilled employees to install it for less than the competition and still make money. (All companies need to make money to survive). These free systems are leased. Sometimes you own the equipment at the end of the term, sometimes you do not. These companies simply inflate the monthly monitoring rate to compensate for the up front cost. Most are able to do business in this fashion because they are selling your signed contract to a large monitoring facility. By hiding the cost of the installation they are eliminating a would be customers biggest complaint. Price. Theoretically taking away the customers biggest excuse to say, "No, this is too expensive", It's free. How can the competition be any cheaper. Who is going to complain about $5.00 or $10.00 extra dollars per month? By eliminating the biggest obstacle they know longer require expert sales staff to sell features and additions because all they really want is the signed contract. Most use subcontractors to keep installation costs to a minimum. Based on volume these companies must continue their relentless pursuit to survive by offering ridiculous deals to attract new clientele, the worst of which is trying to get your friends and neighbors signed on by offering you something for free.
