Perimeter Protection - A term used to indicate the combination of sensors installed on outside windows, doors and other openings so an alarm can be sounded before the intruder can enter a building.

Perimeter style security systems allow access to the interior of the home while providing superior intrusion detection. A door or window cannot be opened without alerting you to the intrusion attempt. At the same time you cannot leave a window open by accident because the system will alert you to the faulted area. The main purpose of this type of system is deterrence. The second a window is forced the alarm is triggered with the would be burglar still outside, sirens whaling, he/she will be on their way to try somewhere else. The benefit to you the home owner is that with your security system armed you can access the entire interior of your home without having to punch codes into a keypad every time you need top enter a protected room. Most people who do not install this type of system only arm their doors at night or when they are home alone. Some opt for a second keypad to arm and disarm a motion detector when entering or exiting a protected area. Window contacts can be installed very discreetly or completely hidden depending upon the style of windows you have. It is not uncommon for our customers to question whether we are actually finished the work because they cannot see any wiring or peripheral devices that were installed.
